UN FIBC

In order to minimize the effects of the United Nations on the transportation of dangerous goods and the possible environmental impacts of these accidents, the Big Bags are used under the UN Hazardous Material Transportation Regulation (Orange Book).

These FIBC’s are used under the UN Hazardous Material Transportation Regulation (Orange Book) to minimize the accidents on the transportation of dangerous goods and the effects of these accidents. Packaging in the relevant regulation were evaluated in 6 categories;

  • Metal,
  • Flexible,
  • Rigid Plastics,
  • Composite,
  • Wood,
  • Compressed Fibers Board.

And according to their properties, the FIBC’s are classified in a code system as shown in the figure below.

  • 13H1 PP Bigbag → Non-coated Fabric
  • 13H2 PP Bigbag → Coated Fabric
  • 13H3 PP Bigbag → Non-coated Fabric with Liner
  • 13H4 PP Bigbag → Coated Fabric and with Liner

Also, these FIBC’s are classified as follows according to the degree of danger of the material they will carry.

  • X Packaging Group I (High Hazard)
  • Y Packaging Group II (Medium Hazard)
  • Z Packaging Group III (Low Danger)

These FIBC’s are certified in the international laboratories after passing through 6 different tests. These tests;

  • Top lift test,
  • Topple test,
  • Drop test,
  • Stacking test,
  • Righting test,
  • Tear test.
